Our pilot program began in November 2019. We have been growing and developing ever since!

We know that every student is capable of growing and learning, so we strive to meet learners where they are at and build on their strengths. Classroom activities are tailored to support a variety of learning needs and focus on relevant, authentic experiences. This is bolstered by small class sizes, qualified and passionate educators, and experienced support staff. Indigenous histories and cultural components are woven throughout our programming, as fostering a sense of cultural pride and understanding in our students is considered integral to their success. 

The students who attend our program were not seeing success in the mainstream system. Often, they were “slipping through the cracks” and feeling disengaged by school. A typical student of the SOAR program requires boosting of their skills and confidence to support their learning, particularly in math and literacy. 

We follow the Ontario curriculum to ensure students are staying on track with their peers when they return to mainstream education. We also involve local Elders and Knowledge Keepers to support cultural education. 

Our programming is bespoke, meaning we can tailor the program to your needs. Whether you are looking for a fully staffed and resourced program, support implementing our philosophies within an existing team, or something in between, we can help!

Founded in 2017, GlenOak Academy is a not-for-profit independent school. We believe in building relationships first. We prioritize emotional health and well-being, and we believe in an education that is not limited to the four walls of a classroom. We understand that learning can take place anywhere and that to develop a love of learning is to be part of the learning experience.
